Georges St. Pierre earns a five-round unanimous decision victory over Nick Diaz in the main event of last night's (Sat., March 16, 2013) UFC 158: "St. Pierre vs. Diaz" event that blew the roof off the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, with one of the most hotly anticipated showdowns in recent memory. You know, it's just too bad the bout didn't live up to its considerable hype. Sure, Diaz talked all the talk and St. Pierre promised to walk all the walk but come fight time, it was the same old song and dance with the French-Canadian welterweight king: takedown, control, jab, superman jab, takedown, more control, positional dominance, and yet another decision victory and successful title defense. It's hard to argue with the formula when it's gotten him this far but there's no doubting the lack of satisfaction fight fans feel after plopping down $60 for 25 minutes of ... that. Thank the fight gods for Carlos Condit vs. Johny Hendricks, huh?!?
