Later on this evening (Sat., March 16, 2013), one of the most highly anticipated match-ups in years will take place at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Welterweight Champion Georges St. Pierre will put his title on the line against the recently reinstated Nick Diaz.
It doesn't matter that he's coming off a loss and a year long suspension for failing a drug test after said loss to Carlos Condit back at UFC 143 in Feb. 2012. Hell, since that time, St. Pierre fought and defeated Condit, so Diaz is basically next in line anyway.
Right?
Well, when you can get conference calls that produce cut up videos like this, it's all justifiable:
Yes, that's the kind of interaction that has served to create a great deal of hype for St. Pierre's latest 170-pound title defense, even if the oddsmakers aren't exactly giving Diaz much of a chance of actually winning the bout.
In the eyes of UFC President Dana White, that hardly matters. "Rush" doesn't like Nick, asked for the fight, and received it as quickly as possible. The fans will be treated to one hell of a show between two fighters who are no fans of each other and aren't afraid to voice as much, the UFC will make a ton of money in the process, and everyone will go home happy.
Joy.
