Surprise, surprise, another Brazilian talent has been added to the UFC on FUEL TV 10 fight card, scheduled for June 8, 2013 at Ginasio Paulo Sarasate in Fortaleza, Ceara, Brazil. The boys at TATAME have confirmed that Nova Uniao prospect Ronny Markes will face former Strikeforce middleweight Derek Brunson.
Markes (14-1) is a very well-rounded prospect fighting out of Andre Pederneiras' acclaimed Nova Unaio fight camp and is currently riding a seven-fight winning streak, with three of those wins coming in the UFC. The former light heavyweight has found a home at 185 pounds, and after taking out Aaron Simpson and Andrew Craig, it would make sense for him to get a step up in competition.
North Carolina, represent!
Brunson (10-2) will fill that role, as the experienced Jackson's MMA product will have a little more to present Markes than his recent opponents. He's a rather lanky middleweight, with long reach and good power, and he also boasts a very strong wrestling game, on par or better than that of Markes' previous foes.
He's finished seven of his 10 wins, and he competed five times in Strikeforce, winning four of those fights.
UFC on FUEL TV 10 is expected to feature a heavyweight main event -- and PRIDE FC rematch -- between Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira and Fabricio Werdum, the two Brazilians who are serving as TUF: "Brazil 2" coaches this season. In addition, the live finale of the combat sports reality show is expected to grace the televised main card, as well.
