UFC Interim Bantamweight Champion Renan Barao will put his temporary title on the line against new division number one contender Eddie Wineland in the main event of UFC 161, which will take place at the MTS Centre in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, on June 15, 2013.
And he'll do it as the -385 favorite, according to Best Fight Odds.
Barao (30-1) is fresh off a fourth-round submission victory over Michael McDonald at the UFC on FUEL TV 7 event earlier this year in London. It was the Brazilian's first title defense since beating out Urijah Faber for a chance to keep the seat warm for the injured Dominick Cruz, who still does not have a timetable for his return.
Don't expect Wineland to complain.
While he's riding back-to-back wins in the 135-pound division, Wineland (20-8-1) likely gets this title shot by default, since outside of Faber and Cruz (and now "Mayday"), there aren't many contenders to choose from.
That leaves him as the +265 underdog.
Well fight fans, those are the numbers, which should shift as we inch closer to fight night. But in which direction?
Time will tell.
