The Ultimate Fighting Championship's (UFC) next fight card in the country of Brazil is starting to shape up as awelterweight contest of Paulo Thiago vs. Lance Benoist has been added to UFC on FX 8, scheduled for May 18, 2013, in aragua do Sul, Santa Catarina, Brazil.

The contest will pit two fighters who have earned a majority of their wins by way of submission against one another.

News of the bout was first passed along by esportes.br.msn.com; however, UFC officials have yet to confirm the 170-pound match up.

Thiago (14-5) is in the midst of a serious rough patch in his career, as he has lost four of his past five bouts inside the Octagon. The Brazilian has been a mainstay in the UFC since early 2009, but with a subpar 4-5 record under the UFC banner, Thiago is in desperate need of a victory if he wants to stay employed.

The 32-year-old has finished 10 of his 14 opponents inside the distance, including notable victories over Josh Koscheck and Mike Swick.

Benoist (6-2), like Thiago, is struggling to register ticks in the win column as of late, as he has dropped two-straight after defeating Matt Riddle in his UFC debut in Sept. 2011.

The American is one of the youngest fighters in the UFC welterweight division at 24 years of age and will also be looking for a victory in order to stay employed with the world's premier mixed martial arts (MMA) organization.

Thiago vs. Benoist will likely take place on the preliminary portion of the UFC on FX 8 fight card, which will air on Facebook and FUEL TV. The main card airs on FX.

UFC on FX 8: "Belfort vs. Rockhold" goes down May 18, 2013, at Arena Jaragua in Jaragua do Sul, Santa Catarina, Brazil. The event headliner will see Vitor Belfort welcome Strikeforce middleweight champion Luke Rockhold to the organization in a five-round contest. Also on the undercard, Constantinos Philippou and Ronaldo Souza have agreed to tangle.
