Saturday afternoon (Dec. 7, 2013), it was confirmed that Matt Brown was forced from his UFC on Fox 9 bout with Carlos Condit due to injury. Though the injury was unknown at first, Brown later tweeted that he herniated two discs in his back. The announcement came as a disappointment as Brown is currently riding a 6 fight winning streak.
Saturday evening, Condit released a statement regarding Brown's injury and what he plans to do now that his opponent will be sidelined.
"I was greatly disappointed to hear of Matt Brown's injury. This was a fight that I was looking forward to immensely, and I know it was a fight the fans have been excited to see. When the fight does happen, I promise that the wait will be worth it.
Right now I'm going to spend time with my family over the holidays, and hope that Matt heals up quickly so that we can reschedule this fight soon.
Thanks to all of the fans out there for their support."

Hopefully Brown can recover quickly as this was one of the most anticipated fights of the year.
