So the injury bug has struck UFC on FOX 9. Again.
Last night (Dec. 6, 2013), there were rumblings on Twitter that Ultimate Fighting Champioship (UFC) welterweight Matt Brown was injured and would be withdrawing from his bout with Carlos Condit which was scheduled for UFC on FOX 9 in Sacramento, Calif.
Those rumors were shot down as Condit's publicist tweeted that the bout was still going on as scheduled. However, this afternoon (Sat., Dec. 7, 2013) Brown delivered the bad news regarding a mishap suffered in training camp.
Thanks for the support guys. I regret to inform all that I am out of the fight with Condit. I herniated 2 discs in my lower back this week.

This has to be a huge disappointment for Brown, who is currently riding a six-fight winning streak. After years of being a fighter who was just known for being "exciting," he was finally starting to get his career on track and showed that be belonged with the elite in the welterweight division.
There is no word yet on the seriousness of the injury and it is assumed that the promotion will not be searching for a late replacement. Condit will likely be pulled from the card and have a fight scheduled for a later date. It is unknown if he will be matched up with Brown upon his return.
