Invicta FC 7 results, LIVE online fight coverage stream for Invicta FC 7: 'Honchak vs. Smith' from Kansas City

Invcita Fighting Championships returns TONIGHT with another card featuring some of the premiere female talent in mixed martial arts (MMA) today, with Invicta FC 7, from Ameristar Hotel and Casino in Kansas City, Missouri.

MMAmania.com will have a LIVE stream of the internet pay per view (PPV) starting at 6 p.m. ET.

In the main event, flyweight champion Barb Honchak takes on 6-3-1 challenger Leslie Smith. Smith is coming off a 3-1 streak in her past three fights, including a win over recent The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 18 semifinalist Raquel Pennington at Invicta 4. The champ Honchak has emerged victorious in her past seven fights, so Smith will certainly have her work cut out for her tonight as she looks to win the first title of her career.

Elsewhere on the card, the 7-0 Lauren Murphy will battle 2-0 Miriam Nakamoto to determine the inaugural Invicta Bantamweight title.

Barb Honchak vs. Leslie Smith

Round 1: Smith connects with a straight. Honchak doubles up on the jab. Smith clinches but takes a knee to the body from Honchak. Honchak presser her up against the fence. Knee to the body from Smith. Really slow pace but Smith is doing well to engage. Smith looks so much bigger than Honchak. Double leg fails for Honchak. A lot of fighting for position. They separate and Honchak hits a huge double leg. Honchak is working from half guard before Smith gives up her back. Honchak locks in a body triangle. Smith defends as Honchak looks for a rear naked choke. 10-9 Honchak.

Round 2: Honchak hits a takedown and is working from side control. Smith is able to use the fence to get back to her feet. Lot of action on the feet as Honchak lands a gorgeous uppercut to the body and chin. Smith is trying to make this a dirty fight but Honchak lands short uppercuts in the clinch. Smith with two hard right hands that have Honchak a bit staggered. Honchak with an inside thigh kick. Knees to the body from Smith. Clash of heads at the end of the round. 10-9 Smith

Round 3: Smith connects with a right hand while Honchak is off balance. Honchak counters an uppercut with a knee. Smith is really getting after this fight. Honchak lands punches to the body and Smith lands a high kick to the head. This is really action packed though a bit sloppy. Honchak is getting the better of the exchanges with the cleaner punches. Honchak connects on a body kick but Smith catches it and looks for a sweep. Another close exchange and Smith connects with a head kick. Honchak lands but there's nothing on her strikes. Smith is doing a ton of damage with her wild awkward punches. Honchak hits a takedown and Smith transitions to an omoplata. She uses it to sweep and take top control to close the round. 10-9 Smith

Round 4: Smith is getting the better of every exchange. Honchak is trying to slow the pace by clinching. Honchak hits a takedown but Smith tries to sweep. Honchak uses the scramble as an opportunity to improve her position and she's landing punches from half guard. Smith finally regains her feet and Honchak hits a high knee to the head. Knee to the body from Smith and Honchak responds with a hook to the head. Smith is doing better at controlling the range but she's giving up takedowns and clinches too easily. Smith is just throwing punches like Matt Riddle and nothing lands. They clinch and Honchak lands knees to the body. Honchak lands kicks to the thigh. 10-9 Honchak

Round 5: Jab from Honchak. And a stiff cross. Smith catches a kick and responds with punches. Honchak attempts a spinning back elbow and Smith lands two punches in response. Honchak clinches and pushes Smith into the fence. Honchak lands a hook to the body. Smith lands a knee to the body. Honchak is throwing more accurately. Smith has the volume. Honchak hits another takedown and is working to pass to mount. Smith uses a butterfly sweep and gets back to her feet. Wild uppercut from Smith. Big shot from Honchak snaps Smith's head back. Honchak's face is bruised and Smith is pushing forward. This fight is getting away from Smith. Cuts under Honchak's right eye. Barb hit's a double leg and she's looking to pass to side control. Smith is working for a kimura but can't get it. Honchak steps over to half guard. Smith gets back to her feet as the round ends. 10-9 Honchak.

Lauren Murphy vs. Miriam Nakamoto

Round 1: Feeling out process to open the round. Stiff jab from Nakamoto. Murphy doing a lot of awkward movement. Outside leg kick from Nakamoto. They clinch and Nakamoto lands a knee and then an elbow. Really weird opening round. Two leg kicks from Nakamoto land. Her technique on those kicks was amazing. Straight punch from Nakamoto. Murphy has made no attempts to bring the fight to the ground. That's really the only place she has the advantage. They clinch up after exchanging punches and Murphy backs Nakamoto up to the fence. Nakamoto hits a gorgeous takedown and then a knee to the body as Murphy stands. Step in elbow from Nakamoto and a right hand from Murphy to close the round. 10-9 Nakamoto

Round 2: Murphy misses on a hook-cross. And again. Another chopping thigh kick from Nakamoto. Hard knee to the body from Nakamoto and then a superman elbow. Murphy really needs to get this fight to the mat. Murphy catches a kick and hits a quick takedown but Nakamoto slides under and is back to her feet. Another leg kick from Nakamoto. And another. Those are hurting Murphy. Step through knee from Nakamoto. Murphy clinches and lands an illegal groin strike. Didn't know that's a thing in female fighting. Another leg kick from Nakamoto as action restarts. Murphy with a lazy shot and Nakamoto pushes off. Murphy eats a jab but counters with a knee to the body. 10-9 Nakamoto

Round 3: Leg kick from Nakamoto and Murphy falls momentarily. Nakamoto's nose is bloodied, probably from a jab. Murphy lands a stiff right hand. Nakamoto responds with her own punches. Murphy clinches and knees the body. Nakamoto knees to the face. Murphy has been working a bodylock but it's totally ineffective. Nakamoto landing short elbows to the face from the clinch. Murphy hoping to hit a throw but Nakamoto defends. High knee from Murphy. Knee from Nakamoto. Great heart being shown by Murphy. She's landing knees to the thigh. Murphy finally wins the position and takes Nakamoto to the ground. This is a bad position for Nakamoto. Murphy is strong on the ground. Elbows on the ground from Murphy. Knees to the body from Murphy and Nakamoto stands. Another takedown and Murphy is doing what she does. 10-9 Murphy

Round 4: Nakamoto's knee is jacked up. Replays in between rounds show she fell awkwardly on the takedown. Murphy opens up and she's moving well. Nakamoto just collapsed to the ground and that's it.

Final result: Lauren Murphy def. Miriam Nakamoto by TKO (Injury).

Felice Herrig vs. Tecia Torres

Round 1: Hard kicks from Torres before Herrig shoots a takedown. Torres defends with a guillotine and Torres spins Herrig into the cage. They are really battling hard for position. Torres is really working the underhook to move Herrig around. As they break Torres lands a right hand. Side kick to Herrig's thigh. Another takedown attempt from Herrig and Torres defends again. She reverses position and is muscling Herrig around. Hard knee to the body from Torres and then punches on the break. Torres reengages and lands several unanswered punches. Herrig finally clinches and lands some knees but Torres breaks and lands punches. Herrig is really having difficulty with Torres' speed and strength. Multiple punches land for Torres. And again. Felice looks for a takedown and is shucked off. More from Torres and Herrig has no answer. 10-9 Torres.

Round 2: Torres with an outside leg kick to open the round. Multiple punches land off a Herrig body kick. Torres lands a side kick to the body. They clinch and Torres lands punches over the top. Torres sticks Herrig with a hard right hook. Herrig just can't find her range. Herrig lands a right hand. That was her best strike of the fight. Spinning hook kick from Torres misses. Herrig tries to clinch but Torres breaks. Herrig clinches and lands a knee but Torres is just landing the better strikes. Side kicks from Torres to land. As do the three punches she threw afterwards. Torres is landing hooks to the chin and Herrig has nothing. Torres is throwing punches in bunches as the round ends. 10-9 Torres.

Round 3: Axe kick from Torres. That's straight from the Andy Hug playbook. Hard outside leg kick from Torres is countered by an inside leg kick from Herrig. Herrig rushes forward and Torres lands six punches to the chin. Herrig throwing front kicks but there's nothing on them. Another axe kick! This is awesome. I'm loving what Torres is doing. She's just a monster. Felice shoots for a double leg but Torres defends and then works for underhooks. Torres is now in complete control of the clinch. Torres takes dominant position and lands knees to the thigh. Herrig's thigh is bright red. Torres hits a trip and works from half guard. Torres is landing punches from the top. Herrig sweeps but can't do anything with the position. That's 10-9 Torres.

Final result: Tecia Torres def. Felice Herrig by Unanimous Decision. All three judges scored the fight 30-27.

Joanne Calderwood vs. Katja Kankaanpaa

Round 1: Calderwood doing really well to avoid everything that KK has thrown. Oh yeah, I'm calling her "KK" cause no way am I tying that name even once. Calderwood counters a left hook with a jab. Calderwood lands a huge takedown and KK clinches up. Calderwood gets the fight to the ground and works from half-guard. Short punches from Calderwood from the top until the bell rings. 10-9 Calderwood

Round 2: KK circles away from Calderwood's punches and lands a kick to the body. Calderwood avoids the follow up punches with brilliant head movement. Right hand from Calderwood. KK dives for another takedown but Calderwood defends. They fight for position against the fence. Calderwood is just doing a brilliant job at avoiding everything. She has a great sense of range. KK finally hits a takedown and has Calderwood's back but can't keep her on the ground. Takedown from KK and she gets a hook in. KK working for a head/arm choke from the top. Calderwood defends until the end of the round. 10-9 Calderwood

Round 3: Calderwood catches a kick and sweeps KK to the ground. KK creates space and stands. Calderwood is doing really well to counter everything. Just super crisp striking. Calderwood doing well striking from range before they clinch against the fence. Calderwood is landing knees to the body before KK pushes off. Two counter jabs from Calderwood. Calderwood sets up for an elbow but doesn't commit to it. Beautiful counter right from Calderwood. KK lands a leg kick. Calderwood lands a high round kick. KK shoots a takedown and Calderwood defends. KK has her back and is throwing knees to the thigh. KK drops for a single and Calderwood defends with underhooks. The round ends with Calderwood hitting a takedown. 10-9 Calderwood

Julia Budd vs. Charmaine Tweet

Round 1: Budd his a quick takedown and immediately goes to side control. Budd moves to north/south and then to the other side. Budd is staying active but Tweet is able to recover full guard. Tweet playing a very defensive game and doing well to control Budd's posture. Budd stands and passes back to side control. Budd is incredibly strong on the ground. Just crazy how limited Tweet has been off her back. Tweet trying to push off the fence but Budd just drags her away. Round ends with Budd failing on an armbar attempt. 10-9 Julia Budd

Round 2: Budd sets up a single leg with an overhand right. She passes immediately to side control and then north/south. Elbows to the head from Budd and knees to the body. She's definitely bullying Tweet. Tweet creates space as Budd stands but is unable to regain her feet. Budd tries to pass but settles into Tweet's guard. Tweet hits a beautiful sweep but can't keep position. She looks for a guillotine but Budd pops her head out. Budd passes back to side control and landing elbows to the ribs. Tweet attempts a reverse triangle but can't find Budd's head. Budd again stands and Tweet isn't making any attempts to stand. Budd dives back into guard and it's more of the same. 10-9 Julia Budd

Round 3: Oh hey, another takedown from Julia Budd! She's settling into guard and Tweet is trying to work a high guard. Tweet is playing a super defensive game when she needs to be attempting submissions. Budd stands again and Tweet won't try and stand. Tweet is throwing kicks but that's about it. Really disappointing showing from Tweet. Budd steps back into guard and there's two minutes left in the round. This is pretty much done. Tweet isn't doing anything and Budd passes to half-guard. Tweet lost in every facet of this fight. A minute left and Tweet is holding on without doing anything. 10-9 Julia Budd

Zoila Gurgel vs. Vanessa Porto

Round 1: Gurgel paws out a double jab. Porto has the center of the cage. Stiff leg kick from Porto. Gurgel with a counter. Porto clinches and eats a knee to the face. Gurgel lands a front kick to the body. Jab straight down the pipe. Porto is trying to force Gurgel to circle towards her power hand but Zoila isn't going for it. Another clinch and another knee to the face from Gurgel. Porto bum rushed in to clinch and another knee to the face. Porto finally hits a big slam and Gurgel is working an open guard. Gurgel throws her legs up for an armbar but Porto stands up. Porto connects with several punches as Gurgel stands. Gurgel lands a high round kick to close the round. 10-9 Gurgel

Round 2: Awesome combination from Gurgel to open the second round. Porto responds by pistoning punches. Gurgel hits a takedown and takes Porto's back. Gurgel is super high on the back and falls off. Porto sneaks out the back and stands. She connects with punches as Zoila gets back to her feet. Porto connects with punches and an inside leg kick. Another inside leg kick. She's definitely found a home for that. Gurgel is looking to fade a bit. Another combination to Gurgel's chin. Porto is really pulling away with this. Gurgel connects with a jab-cross but won't follow up with anything else. Porto hits a wizzer to keep the fight standing. Outside leg kick from Gurgel. Porto again drives forward with punches and then clinches. Gurgel has no answer for that. Just taking a ton of damage. 10-9 Porto

Round 3: Porto again charges forward and connects with punches. Gurgel has zero lateral movement. She moves backwards instead of circling away. Porto hits a double leg and puts Gurgel on her back against the fence. Porto is controlling Gurgel on the ground and hasn't allowed her to create any distance. Gurgel finally shrimps out but she spent so much time defending off her back, she needs to go for the knockout. High round kick from Gurgel. Porto connects with two punches. Gurgel with a straight kick to the body. And a high left round kick. Gurgel is definitely looking to win but it may be too late. The round ends with Gurgel coming up short on a flying knee. 10-9 Porto. Solid opening bout.

Final result: Vanessa Porto defeats Zoila Gurgel by Unanimous Decision. The scores were 30-27, 29-28, 29-28.
