The co-headlining attraction of tonight's (Fri., Dec. 6, 2013) UFC Fight Night 33: "Hunt vs. Bigfoot" event at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre in Brisbane, Australia, featured Mauricio Rua looking to get back to his winning ways against the heavy-handed James Te Huna.
That's the nice way of putting it. You could also say tonight was a career-defining fight, possibly career deciding.
He came through in the biggest way possible.
"Shogun" showed absolutely no trepidation, no hesitation, and all the viciousness that once made him the best in the world at light heavyweight. Te Huna, for his part, was aggressive enough but it was that aggression that cost him his consciousness.
Te Huna came in with a left uppercut that missed by a mile. The Brazilian countered with perfect timing over the top with a right hand that connected clean on the chin.
Good night.
Te Huna collapsed to the mat in a heap of flesh and failure and immediately the talk of "Shogun" being back started up.
