Top female mixed martial arts (MMA) fighters, Alexis Davis and Jessica Eye, are scheduled to collide at UFC 170, which takes place at Mandalay Bay Events Center, Las Vegas, Nevada, on Feb. 22, 2014.
Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) made the announcement earlier this evening via Twitter.com.
Davis is currently in the midst of an impressive four-fight win streak, most recently besting former No. 1-ranked Bantamweight contender, Liz Carmouche, at UFC Fight Night 31 via unanimous decision last month.
"Ally-Gator," who trains with the Cesar Gracie's crew in Stockton, Calif., also topped Rosi Sexton in her Octagon debut at UFC 161 back in June, as well as Shayna Baszler at Invicta FC 4 to start the year and Hitomi Akano at Invicta 2 in July 2012.
Eye, meanwhile, is fresh off a huge -- albeit controversial -- split decision victory over perennial top-ranked women's standout, Sarah Kaufman, at UFC 166 back in October. "Evil" is also enjoying hot streak, winning her last eight appearances against the likes of Carina Damm and Zoila Frausto Gurgel, among others.
Definitely a meaningful match, with the winner possibly a consideration to next fight the winner of the UFC 170 main event, which is a showdown between women's champion Ronda Rousey and undefeated Sara McMann, while Cat Zingano continues her recovery from knee surgery.
In addition to the aforementioned headliner, UFC 170 is expected to include a Light Heavyweight showdown between Rashad Evans and Daniel Cormier in the co-main event of the evening. In other pay-per-view (PPV) main card action, Top 10-ranked Welterweight veterans Demian Maia and Rory MacDonald will collide, as well as red-hot Lightweight Rafael dos Anjos taking on Rustam Khabilov.
That's not all.
