Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) has released its latest crop of fighters as the mixed martial arts (MMA) promotion announced earlier today (Dec. 19, 2013) that George Sotiropoulos, Rosi Sexton and Alessio Sakara have been released of their duties.
The cuts, though unfortunate, don't come as a major surprise to many, especially when it comes to "Legionarius" and "G-Sot."
Sakara has suffered four straight losses to current UFC Middleweight Champion Chris Weidman, Brian Stann, Patrick Cote and most recently to Octagon newcomer Nicholas Musoke at UFC Fight Night 30 this past October.
His release ends an eight-year run with UFC.
Sotiropoulos has also lost four in a row, dropping fights to Dennis Siver, Rafael dos Anjos, Ross Pearson and to K.J. Noons at UFC 166. Prior to his string of defeats, "G-Sots" had won eight in a row, with seven of them coming inside the eight-walled cage, and served as coach on The Ultimate Fighter (TUF): "Smashes" series.
As for Sexton, dropping her first two fights under the UFC umbrella to Alexis Davis and Jessica Andrade was enough to earn her a pink slip ... and perhaps a date with a neck surgeon.
How about it Maniacs ... agree/disagree with the cuts?
