UFC Fight Night 32 results: Rafael Cavalcante knocks out Igor Pokrajac

DEM KNEES!

Kyle Terada-US PRESSWIRE

Former Strikeforce light heavyweight champion Rafael Cavalcante was knocked out in the first round of his lone fight since coming over to the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) earlier this year. Tonight (Sat., Nov. 9, 2013), at UFC Fight Night 32: "Belfort vs. Henderson" in Goiania, Brazil, he was given another shot, this time against Croatian striker Igor Pokrajac.

An interesting stat: Before tonight, these two had five combined fights since May of last year with a record of 0-3 and two No Contests.

That all changed tonight in a big way.

Pokrajac came out pushing the pace, rushing straight out to the center to exchange punches with "Feijao". He got what he wanted, too, as the Brazilian returned fire in the form of heavy right and left hands.

But it was his knees from the clinch that did Pokrajac in.

Indeed, Cavalcante locked in a Thai Plum clinch and used it to deliver a series of devastating knees, a la Anderson Silva vs. Rich Franklin from UFC 64. One of the knees got through and the Croatian simply couldn't withstand the violence.

Yet another first round finish.
