Here comes the TRThunder.
Two of the most devastating punchers Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) has ever seen will lock horns for the second time this Saturday (Nov. 9, 2013) when Dan Henderson rematches Vitor Belfort in the main event of UFC Fight Night 32 from Goiania, Brazil.
In addition, the true winner of The Ultimate Fighter (TUF): "Brazil" will be decided by a match between Cezar Ferreira and Daniel Sarafian, the latter of whom earned his way to the Finale but suffered an injury and could not compete.
Former Strikeforce champion Rafael "Feijao" Cavalcante will also attempt to earn his first-ever victory inside the Octagon at the expense of Igor Pokrajac, while Brandon Thatch collides with Paulo Thiago.
It's a solid free mixed martial arts (MMA) card; therefore, why not celebrate all the money you didn't spend by betting it on the fights? Follow me for the latest UFC Fight Night 32 betting odds / lines to see if we can cultivate some extra scratch:
UFC Fight Night 32 Odds For The Under Card:
Godofredo Pepey (-120) vs. Sam Sicilia (-120)
Thiago Tavares (-210) vs. Justin Salas (+160)
Omari Akhmedov (-175) vs. Thiago Perpetuo (+135)
Adriano Martins (-120) vs. Daron Cruickshank (-120)
Jose Maria Tome (-125) vs. Dustin Ortiz (-115)
Thoughts: Lots of close match ups odds-wise, but I still see value in Sicilia and Martins.
Sicilia isn’t the one-shot beatdown artist he was sold as on TUF; however, he is a decent wrestler with decent pop in his hands. As slick as Pepey is on the mat, his wrestling is quite poor and his striking is mostly a distraction to close the distance and pull guard. When it comes to solid guard player versus experienced wrestler, I will almost always take the latter -- I don’t see Pepey finishing him off his back or winning the stand up (crude as Sicilia’s brawling is).
I’m confident enough to propose a sizeable bet on Sicilia.
Martins may not have a "name," but he has an extremely impressive resume -- his only loss since 2009 was a debatable decision to Francisco Trinaldo. He’s a massive 155-pound fighter with powerful punches and an effective ground game to back it up, while I’m just not all that impressed with Cruickshank. Martins’ strength and power should carry him past Cruickshank’s flashy, but not devastating, arsenal.
UFC Fight Night 32 Odds For The Main Card:
Vitor Belfort (-220) vs. Dan Henderson (+180)
Rony Jason (-200) vs. Jeremy Stephens (+170)
Ryan LaFlare (-155) vs. Santiago Ponzinibbio (+135)
Brandon Thatch (-320) vs. Paulo Thiago (+260)
Rafael Cavalcante (-270) vs. Igor Pokrajac (+230)
Cezar Ferreira (-150) vs. Daniel Sarafian (+130)
Thoughts: As big a "Jason" fan as I am and as mediocre as Stephens has looked lately, +170 is just a little too steep for my tastes. In addition to his gargantuan power, Stephens has managed to develop a very effective wrestling game lately, complementing it with solid ground-and-pound. Though Jason is a savage on the mat, Stephens should be the one dictating position. Plus, on the feet, he hits a hell of a lot harder than Jason.
Don’t make this the make-or-break bet of the evening, but a bit on "Lil’ Heathen" would make sense.
Every time I prop up some -300 favorite on the main card as a sure thing to beef up your parlays with, he loses. Maximo Blanco blew it against Marcus Brimage, Brian Bowles blew it against George Roop and I’m pretty sure I recommended betting on John Lineker in his debut against Louis Gaudinot. Well, the joke’s on you, fate, because it would make me HAPPY if Paulo Thiago somehow pulled the upset on Brandon Thatch. To mitigate the potential disappointment, though, I say bet on Thatch. He’s not only a gigantic Welterweight, he is a truly vicious striker and real power in his limbs. Paulo is also 2-4 in his last six, so either we get a great return to form from an awesome veteran or you dry your tears at his crushing defeat with the fat stacks of cash you made betting on his opponent.
