Eric Kelly will fight for the first time since his ONE FC title loss to Honorio Banario last February when he returns to the Philippines to face Jianbo Lu in the main event of URCC 24: "Uprising" on Nov. 30, 2013. The card is set for the SMX Convention Centre and will also feature featherweight and heavyweight title bouts.
Kelly (9-1) made his name for the URCC before signing with ONE FC where he earned himself a title shot with wins over Mitch Chilson, Bae Young Kwon and Jens Pulver. Lu is a Sanda fighter who probably has more mixed martial arts (MMA) experience than his record suggests and this is unlikely to be an easy assignment for the Filipino.
Igor Subora (4-1) is the URCC heavyweight champion but has been out of action for two years. He returns to the ring to defend his title against Marcus Valda (1-0), who has won medals at the SEA Games for wrestling and will be fighting for the first time since 2009.
After Kelly vacated his URCC 149-pound belt to concentrate on ONE FC commitments the title was won by Ricardo Sapno (6-1) and he will be defending it for the third time in a rematch against Red Romero (6-4), who he stopped by strikes back in 2011.
The card is notable for the number of fighters on it making comebacks with Adrian Hillana (1-1) and Ali Khatibi (1-0-0-1) meeting in a featherweight fight. The former has been out of action since 2010 while the latter was last seen fighting in 2009.
