UFC Fight Night 31 results: Michael Chiesa submits Colton Smith

The main card of tonight's (Wed., Nov. 6, 2013) UFC Fight Night 31: "Fight for the Troops 3" event in Fort Campbell, Kentucky, kicked off with a lightweight battle pitting Ultimate Fighter winners Colton Smith vs. Michael Chiesa.

Both came in looking to rebound from losses in their most recent fights.

Chiesa came out clinching up with Smith and taking him down early. He quickly took Colton's back and worked to lock in a rear-naked choke but was reversed and found himself fending off the same submission from his obviously capable opponent.

A round break proved helpful, as Chiesa used the second stanza to once again jump Smith's back and this time the rear-naked choke came through to get the tap just under two minutes into the frame.

"The Maverick" is here to stay, y'all.
