Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) provided a special crowd in attendance with several great fights on the "Prelims" of tonight's (Weds., Nov. 6, 2013) UFC Fight Night 31: "Fight for the Troops 3," from Fort Campbell in Hopkinsville, Kentucky.
The men and women of the armed forces were treated to a spectacular display from most of the "Prelims" fighters, opening up the night on YouTube and Facebook, along with an early broadcast on FOX Sports 1.
In the featured "Prelims" fight, we were offered to a first round full of low blows, which included a questionable ending to the fight.
James Krause was doing his best to counter Bobby Greene's superior striking skills, and ate two shots to the cup -- which saw Greene lose a point in the first round. Greene was utilizing his kicks, and there was some confusion when Greene looked as if he hit Krause with a kick for a third time down low, as John McCarthy called a stop to the action. As Green protested, McCarthy awarded Greene with the victory and said that it was a legal blow to the gut, and that Krause had lost. Replays showed it was a questionable call, since the kick looked as if he hit more of the cup.
Greene gets a controversial technical knockout win in Kentucky, moving to 2-0 in UFC and is now on a six-fight win streak. Krause moves to 1-1 in the Octagon.
Franciso Rivera was able to get the better of George Roop on the feet and eventually stopped Roop by way of strikes in the second round as he poured on the punches in devastating fashion.
Roop was getting the best of Rivera in the grappling exchanges, and ate some big shots from his opponent early on. Rivera was able to nullify Roop's takedown attemps in the second round and clocked him with a big right hand, dropping him twice and leaving the referee with no choice but to step in.
"Cisco" has not lost since 2011, and has five wins -- with three inside the promotion -- since then.
A wild first round from Dennis Bermudez and Steven Siler saw them exchange punches and submission attempts, each forcing off a guillotine scare from their opponent.
Bermudez was able to showcase superior submission defense and worked in Siler's guard for the majority of the contest, earning a unanimous decision victory. Siler showcased good striking towards the end of the fight, but Bermudez returned the favor with some heavy punches as well.
Bermudez earns his fifth-straight victory inside the Octagon.
Still undefeated in the Octagon, Amanda Nunes was able to control Germaine de Randamie en route to a victory courtesy of a brutal display of elbows with her ground and pound. Nunes scored a takedown and secured full mount, and threw down some heavy elbows and punches. Although de Randamie blocked some of those shots, she did not have an opportunity to defend herself and left Herb Dean with no choice but to stop Nunes' elbows.
Nunes stays undefeated in the promotion, with two-straight victories, while de Randamie suffers her first Octagon defeat and moves to 4-3 in the sport.
Lorenz Larkin and Chris Camozzi made a case for an early Fight of The Night candidate, with a bloodied Camozzi coming up short in what was Larkin's best display in the cage yet.
Larkin and Carmozzi exchange their attempts at headkicks and flashy shots to the body, with Larkin dropping Camozzi early and letting him back up. Larkin continued to attack Camozzi who never backed away, and decided to keep the fight standing with Larkin rather than taking him down.
Larkin opened up Camozzi with a series of punches and even some stiff elbows in the clinch, as they both attempted their fair share of aerial maneuvers in the closing seconds.
Larkin earns his first victory inside the Octagon.

Both lightweights exchanged hard legkicks and Edwards was still dishing out combinations of his own even though he was the slower striker. A massive left uppercut from Medeiros landed and he followed up with punches to a downed Edwards, who was out cold due to Medeiros' punches that followed. The second fight of the night saw Seth Baczynski outwork Neil Magny to a unanimous decision victory, although the challenger put forth a courageous display by relentlessly going for takedowns and finished the third round strong with a barrage of punches. Baczynski got the better of the grappling exchanges, while his opponent was the better striker.
Medeiros moves to 10-1 and shakes off a loss in his previous outing, while Edwards, a pioneer of the sport, loses his third fight in a row and moves to 42-21-1 in his storied career.
Baczynski defended the takedown well and dished out some of his own, earning his 19th career victory.
The night opened up with a bang, as Derek Brunson wasted no time in finishing Brian Houston, clocking him with a headkick and then taking his back for a rear-naked choke victory. Houston did his best to squirm out of the submission hold, eventually having no choice but to tap.
Brunson moves to 11-2 in his MMA career, while Houston suffers the first loss of his career with a 4-1 record.
