If mixed martial arts (MMA) fans in Singapore want to have Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) holding events in their neck of the woods, they should probably get used to this sort of thing.
In what is becoming an unfortunate trend in recent months, UFC Fight Night 34 will be forced to switch up its headlining act, now that longtime welterweight contender Jake Ellenberger has been injured and forced to withdraw from his upcoming fight against Tarec Saffiedine on Jan. 4, 2014 at Marina Bay Sands.
That's just over a month away.
Finding a suitable replace for an international event could be problematic, so the promotion has instead promoted from within, pulling Hyun Gyu Lim from his previously scheduled scrap opposite Kiichi Kunimoto and plopped him down next to "The Sponge," according to MMA Fighting.
Yes, the same "badass" who UFC President Dana White called a "world beater."
The towering Lim (12-3-1) has just two fights under the ZUFFA banner, but he's certainly made the most of them, knocking out Marcelo Guimaraes at UFC on FUEL TV 8 before following that up with a violent finish over Pascal Krauss at the UFC 164 event back in August.
Brazil's Luiz Jorge Dutra Jr. will take his place against "Strasser" on FOX Sports 1.
