At one point, Manny Pacquiao was considered to be on of the best boxers on the planet.
Those days almost seem like a lifetime away as Pacquiao lost his last two fights to Timothy Bradley and Juan Manuel Marquez in uninspiring performances. Now, the Filipino pugilist is fighting to maintain relevance in the twilight of his career.
His opponent is Brandon Rios, a fighter looking to get back in the winner's circle after a disappointing showing against Mike Alvarado. Prior to the bout with Alvarado, Rios was undefeated with 23 of his wins coming by way of knockout.
Rios presents a perfect test for Pacquiao as he isn't considered one of the fastest welterweight boxers. This bout is very much tailor made for Pacquiao to utilize speed to earn a finish late in the fight.
Tonight's bout (Nov. 23, 2013) airs LIVE on HBO pay-per-view (PPV) from Cotai Arena in Macau, China. The two will fight over the World Boxing Organization (WBO) International Welterweight title, a belt that was very much made up just for this fight.
