Resurrection Fighting Alliance (RFA) returned to 1stBank Center in Broomfield, Colorado, last night (Nov. 22, 2013) with RFA 11, headlined by Zach Makovsky facing Matt Manzanares in the main event for the RFA Flyweight title. The card also featured Lyoto Machida's little brother, Chinzo Machida, who made his RFA debut.
RFA has become something like an unofficial "feeder" league for the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) due to owner Ed Soares' close relationship with the promotion as Anderson Silva's manager. The most notable RFA alum is Sergio Pettis, who made his UFC debut at UFC 167 against Will Campuzano on the Facebook 'prelims.'
Last night's event saw Makovsky crowned as the new Flyweight champion of RFA after winning a unanimous decision in a five round scrap. It was a fairly entertaining affair. But the most exciting result was Machida landing a vicious flying knee to the jaw of Brian Wood that resulted in Wood being carted off on a stretcher.
Watch as Pat Miletich and Ron Kruck recount the events of RFA 11.
