Bellator 106 results: Joe Riggs is a "Fight Master" with boring decision over Mike Bronzoulis

Yawn...

Esther Lin, MMA Fighting

Joe Riggs wanted to be a "Fight Master" as he was able to sort of outwork Mike Bronzoulis for fifteen minutes to take home the title at Bellator 106 in Long Beach, California, at the Long Beach Arena Saturday (Nov. 2, 2013) night. Riggs won a unanimous decision, with all three judges scoring the bout 30-27.

The fight was the finals for Spike TV's experiment at finding a new reality television show to help promote its mixed martial arts (MMA) product. It was largely a ratings failure, despite a new and creative way to deliver on a stale format.

It wasn't exactly Forrest Griffin vs. Stephan Bonnar 1, which is credited as being the fight that put the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) on the map. Instead, it was a boring affair that didn't do either man any favors besides putting a cool 100k in Riggs' pocket. Bronzoulis though only took home $5k.

Bummer.
