Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is beginning to build its annual Super Bowl weekend (Sat., Feb. 1, 2014) pay-per-view (PPV) event, planning a rare championship double-header at Prudential Center in Newark, N.J., just a short distance from MetLife stadium in East Rutherford where the big NFL game will be played the following day.
In the UFC 169 main event, Bantamweight champion Dominick Cruz will return from a two-year, injury-plagued hiatus to try and unify his 135-pound belt at the expense of interim division kingpin Renan Barao. In the co-main event, UFC Featherweight champion Jose Aldo will put his 145-pound belt on the line against surging top contender Ricardo Lamas.
And, of course, UFC 169 will also showcase a "do or die" Heavyweight clash between former champion Frank Mir and K-1 striking machine, Alistair Overeem.
Here's a sneak peek at the UFC 169 teaser poster:
Anyone think "Dominator" can shake of all that rust?
