I'm sure Johny Hendricks and Robbie Lawler just love to hear talk like this.
Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Welterweight Champion Georges St-Pierre, along with his friend and TriStar team mate Rory MacDonald, have two important mixed martial arts (MMA) fights coming up this Saturday night (Nov. 16, 2013) in Las Vegas, Nevada.
"Rush" will defend his title against the aforementioned "Bigg Rigg," while "Ares" tries to prove he's more "Ruthless" than Lawler.
And if we learned anything about matchmaking for St-Pierre, it's that nothing ever goes according to plan. Just ask Chris Weidman, who plunged a dagger into the heart of combat sports fans clinging to the idea of a St-Pierre vs. Anderson Silva "super fight."
Not that it has stopped UFC President Dana White from looking into his crystal ball at the UFC 167 media scrum:
"I think if [Rory] beats Robbie Lawler, he's going to move out of Georges' gym and I think things are going to change. I think this is the fight, right here for him, that's going to put him in the direction of fighting Georges St-Pierre. I think if he wins this fight, he's moving out, he's going to get his own place. And when that time comes for Rory, you know [St-Pierre is] going to give him that opportunity. And you fucking know Rory wants it. You know he wants it."
Sounds like White wants it, too (but he might want to first check with MacDonald).
Earlier this year, St-Pierre revealed he had "secret plans" for his future -- that also included MacDonald -- and promised that once he revealed exactly what they were, the Internet would "blow up." Then again, the only thing that could detonate this weekend in "Sin City" is Johny Hendricks' left hand.
Or Robbie Lawler's right.
