UFC Fight Night 29 results: Dong Hyun Kim knocks out Erick Silva

Dong Hyun Kim used a huge left hook clean on the chin to knock out Erick Silva at tonight's (Oct. 9, 2013) UFC Fight Night 29 event in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

The co-main event of tonight's (Wed., Oct. 9, 2013) UFC Fight Night 29: "Maia vs. Shields" event from Sao Paulo, Brazil, on Fox Sports 1 featured rising superstar Erick Silva facing his toughest test to date in perennial welterweight contender Dong Hyun Kim.

The opening frame featured Silva employing a measured approach, one that allowed Kim to work his strong grappling game to gain an early edge. More than that, he suffocated the young Brazilian upstart, avoiding his explosive offense and controlling the entire round.

That changed in the second when Silva came rushing out with a burst of aggression that earned him a knockdown and the favor of all those in attendance. That includes the judges, by the way.

He looked close to finishing the bout not long after and then it happened.

Both guys fired off hard left hooks but Kim slipped his head to the side while Silva stayed right in the pocket. He paid dearly for it, too, taking the full force of Kim's punch. He was immediately knocked out cold.

That'll do.
