The injury bug has hit UFC Fight Night 29: Belfort vs Henderson.
Featherweight Rodrigo Damm was forced to pull out of his scheduled bout with Hacran Dias scheduled for Wednesday's card. Damm was a contestant on the Ultimate Fighting Championship's (UFC) first season for The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil.
While he was successful early in the season, he had trouble maintaining weight and was forced to leave the show during taping because of kidney problems.
MMA Fighting's Guillherme Cruz has the news.
Damm (11-6) was expected to face Hacran Dias (21-2-1) in a featherweight bout in Barueri, Brazil, but suffered from kidney stones while cutting weight for the fight. With four days remaining until the event, the UFC decided to remove Dias from the card.
Damm has had previous issues with weight-cutting. After two wins at TUF: Brazil 1, the featherweight was forced to leave the show in the semifinals, when he was expected to meet Hugo Viana, when he suffered from kidney problems.
This news comes just a week after the Shooto 43 card was cancelled because Leandro Souza died during his final weight cut to flyweight.
Damm last fought against Mizuto Hirota, edging the former Sengoku champion out by split decision. With the Damm/Dias fight pulled, the preliminary card will now feature just four bouts. All will air on Fox Sports 1 beginning at 5:00 p.m. ET.
