Johny Hendricks is on fire in his latest commercial for UFC 167!
No, really.
The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) welterweight number one contender suffered second-degree burns while filming a video spot for his upcoming title fight against reigning division kingpin Georges St-Pierre, which you can view in the video above.
See the painful-looking pic here.
The lights used on set were placed too close to the bearded brawler and as a result, left his back and shoulder a hot mess. The good news is, "Bigg Rigg" only missed a day or two of training after using a burn ointment prescribed by his physician, according to MMA Fighting, and was ship-shape in just over a week.
Hopefully this latest turn of events does sway this pick.
St. Pierre is already a -220 betting favorite over Hendricks as we inch closer to their 170-pound showdown, which takes place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada on Nov. 16, 2013 (see the poster here). That said, most odds shift considerably when the late money comes in, usually the day of the fight.
This will be ancient history by then.
In addition, the focus is beginning to shift on the promotion's 20th Anniversary (UFC 167), which includes a 20-day tour in cities across the country (full schedule here). That has been able to draw attention away from the drug testing fiasco that made both headliners "look stupid."
Better stupid than on fire, all things considered.
