Saturday night (Oct. 26, 2013) at the legendary Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, New Jersey, Bernard Hopkins put his International Boxing Federation (IBF) Light Heavyweight title on the line against Karo Murat on Showtime.
It was a classic Bernard Hopkins fight. He was able to draw his opponent in and forced Murat off his game plan. In fact, the 47 year old Hopkins was willing to get into striking exchanges with the hard hitting German. Murat tried to keep up with Hopkins' gamesmanship but was outclassed when it came to bending the rules.
After one exchange that saw Murat slip to the canvas, Hopkins went to his opponent's corner to talk trash. Ultimately, Hopkins proved to be too much for Murat who just didn't have what it takes to defeat the "Executioner."
When the final bell sounded it was Hopkins who was awarded the Unanimous Decision victory with the judges turning in very one-sided scorecards that read 117-110, 119-108, and 119-108.
After the bout it was discussed that Hopkins may meet Floyd Mayweather in a catchweight bout.
