Let's take a look at the video footage to see what really went down with that illegal knee from Melvin Guillard to Ross Pearson.

Melvin Guillard vs. Ross Pearson, the co-main event of today's (Sat., Oct. 26, 2013) UFC Fight Night 30: "Machida vs. Munoz" event at the Phones 4u Arena in Manchester, England, was supposed to be an entertaining back-and-forth war of attrition that would delight fight starved fans across the pond.

Instead, it was marred in controversy and ended anticlimactically.

That's because shortly into the opening round, Guillard fired off two knees while Pearson was teetering between a standing position and that of a downed opponent. His fingers were brushing the canvas for the second blow and because of that, an "accidental foul" was called and the bout ended in a "No Contest".

Talk about being unfulfilled.

In fairness, Pearson's head was sporting a nasty gash immediately after the knee (see it by clicking here), so it was probably in everyone's best interest to call an end to the proceedings and, if need be, simply run it back at a different event another time.

We shall see if that's what the UFC ultimately decides to do.
