Lyoto Machida finally did what so many have been hoping he would do for years now and made the drop to middleweight to battle Mark Munoz in the main event of UFC Fight Night 30 today (Sat., Oct. 26, 2013) at the Phones 4u Arena in Manchester, England. With his track record, victory could mean a title shot.
As is typically the case with a Machida fight, patience was the name of the game early. Actually, maybe three total strikes were thrown within the first 1:30 of the bout. That encompasses all strikes, from punches to kicks.
There were a million feints, though.
When he decided to, Machida upped the pace with a body kick. He was far more aggressive after that, which resulted in the finishing blow, a huge head kick that planted Munoz and had the referee running in to stop hit.
Wow.
