UFC 166 results: Daniel Cormier wins decision over Roy Nelson

The co-main event of tonight's (Sat., Oct. 19, 2013) UFC 166: "Velasquez vs. Dos Santos 3" pay-per-view (PPV) from the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas, featured a slimmed down Roy Nelson taking the cage to square off against an even more slimmed down Daniel Cormier in a heavyweight showcase with title implications.

Oh, and they were also settling a grudge that stemmed largely from Nelson calling Cormier an "uncle Tom". Yeah, it was that deep at one point.

Perhaps that's why "DC" chose to run to the cage in lieu of a walkout. He then proceeded to control "Big Country" for much of the first round before winning the stand up battle for a strong start to the bout.

Cormier largely took care of business in the second round too, doing what he wanted without putting himself in any real danger. That was the story of the fight by the time it was over. Put simply, the former Strikeforce grand prix winner was better in every area and showcased that at every turn.

Nelson's best weapon, his huge overhand right, was never able to find its mark. Because of that, he never stood a chance and that showed late when he resorted to taunting tactics that failed to draw Cormier in to a firefight.

Ultimately, no one looked all that special but it was Cormier who came away with the unanimous decision.
