You hit like a girl!
In the old days, that used to be an insult. After watching gals like Holly Holm break people in half (video), it might be time to start viewing it as a compliment. But no matter the intention, it's just one of those cheap insults that's bandied about in the sport of mixed martial arts (MMA).
Depending on who you ask, Georges St-Pierre hits like a girl. So too, does "Shogun" Rua. That's pretty good company if you're going to be lumped in with a handful of top Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) athletes, a position Cain Velasquez found himself in following his five-round beatdown of Junior dos Santos at UFC 155 last December.
See why here.
Despite walking out of "Sin City" looking like a Brazilian Leatherface (pic), "Cigano" was not impressed with his opponent's inability to finish their fight, which marked the second time they went to war after the inaugural UFC on FOX event in Nov. 2011.
Velasquez told UFC Tonight that Junior's assessment didn't bother him.
"With a loss people try to take something positive from it. That was all he could do. I didn't finish the fight. But it doesn't get under my skin."
UFC President Dana White revealed on Wednesday night that Cain's "smart gameplan" was not indicative of his finishing ability, but rather a 25-minute lesson in cage justice, as the once-beaten heavyweight put on a clinic in the UFC 155 main event for no other reason that to "punish" his foe.
He'll have the chance to do it again in this weekend's rubber match.
Velasquez puts his title on the line against Dos Santos for the third time in Saturday night's (Oct. 19, 2013) PPV headliner at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
