Tonight (Jan. 19, 2013) is the night that Michael Bisping and Vitor Belfort stop talking, quit chest thumping and settle their score like men, getting locked inside a cage for 25 minutes (or less) to fight until a winner is declared.
UFC on FX 7 is set to pop off later this evening from the Ibirapuera Arena in Sao Paulo, Brazil, with a meaningful mixed martial arts (MMA) main event between Michael Bisping vs. Vitor Belfort that could determine the next Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) No. 1 Middleweight contender. That is, of course, if "The Count" can emerge victorious -- UFC President Dana White made a guarantee to Bisping, but didn't make a similar one to Belfort.
Belfort has vowed to throw a wrench into those plans, telling White to "choose another guy" to fight UFC Middleweight Champion Anderson Silva next because Bisping is "not going to get through" him. It's the kind of bulletin board-type material that has the Brazilian fired up, but it's also the kind of stuff that can work in reverse, especially against a (typically) careful cardio machine like Bisping.
Time will certainly tell the tale.
And in this case likely more ways than one -- it's no secret that the longer this fight goes, the better Bisping's chances get to finally punching his championship ticket. However, as the video highlight reel above illustrates, Belfort is a very dangerous opponent who is more than capable of ending any fight very quickly.
Can't wait.
