Strikeforce results: Josh Barnett chokes out Nandor Guelmino in two minutes

Josh Barnett wasn't about to mess around with Nandor Guelmino at Strikeforce: "Marquardt vs Saffiedine" at the Chesapeake Energy Arena in Oklahoma City, Okla., on Sat., Jan. 12, 2013. He needed to work fast because he was sick ... and that's exactly what he did.

Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Heavyweight Champion Josh Barnett has been sicker than a dog in the run up to his farewell Strikeforce fight with Nandor Guelmino at the Chesapeake Energy Arena in Oklahoma City, Okla., this evening (Jan. 12, 2013) on Showtime.

In fact, the "War Master" indicated that he didn't get two consecutive days of training because the incestuous flu bug that plagued his entire training team.

Could have fooled me.

Barnett wasted zero time getting Guelmino right where he wanted him, which was on his back. The crafty catch-wrestler made it pretty clear that he wanted to end the fight early so that any possible cardio issues would not haunt him later in the mixed martial arts (MMA) match.

Guelmino actually got to his feet after Barnett's first attempt; however, he was not so lucky the second time around. Barnett scored a nice trip along the cage and landed on top of Guelmino in full mount. Guelmino tried to wiggle free, but in doing so he offered up his neck to one of the division's top submission specialists.

Barnett took the bait and sunk in a fight-ending arm-triangle choke that took little more than two minutes to accomplish.

Of course, Barnett was asked about the possibility of returning to the UFC, but he doesn't seem to have an answer (although he seems to have all the others).

Time, which is supposed to heal all wounds -- even with UFC President Dana White on occasion -- will ultimately tell this twisted tale.
