UFC on FX 5 results and LIVE fight coverage for 'Browne vs Bigfoot' on Oct. 5 in Minneapolis

UFC on FX 5 goes down at the Target Center in Minneapolis, Minn., TONIGHT (Fri., Oct. 5, 2012).

And it's bringing some serious firepower.

"Browne vs. Bigfoot" will be headlined by towering top prospect Travis Browne, who looks to get himself into the Heavyweight title hunt by disposing of Strikeforce import Antonio Silva.

Elsewhere on the card, Jake Ellenberger tries to re-establish himself as a Welterweight contender against Jay Hieron while Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 14 Champion John Dodson gets his hands dirty against Jussier da Silva at Flyweight.

Travis Browne vs. Antonio Silva (265-pound limit):

Round one: Browne throws a big right hand a wheel kick to get things started. Push kick from Browne and Silva goes down the middle with a straight right counter to back him off. Browne grazes with a right hook and Silva presses forward with a kick and a right hook, initiating a clinch against Browne and pressing him into the fence. Silva stomps and knees Browne from the clinch. Browne puts Silva in the thai clinch and throws a few knees to back him off. Browne is stepping gingerly on his left knee. Browne throws some side kicks to Bigfoot's knee and Silva responds with a leg kick and a big right hand that hurts Browne. Silva swarms him and Browne is hurt bad and it's all over. Wow!

Final results: Antonio Silva defeats Travis Browne via TKO at 3:27 of round one

Jake Ellenberger vs. Jay Hieron (170-pound limit):

Round one: Hieron whiffs with a head kick to get things started and Ellenberger appears like he's going to be looking to counter here. Hieron steps forward with a left hook but it doesn't do any damage. Straight left jab lands for Hieron. Ellenberger steps forward with power but Hieron ducks underneath it. Ellenberger looks like he's really trying to pace himself in this first round. Short uppercut from Ellenberger knocks Hieron back a bit and they reset. Spinning back kick from Hieron whiffs and now Ellenberger has control of the cage center. Hieron attacks with a takedown attempt but Ellenberger stifles him and reverses it, throwing a knee as Hieron scrambles to his feet. 10-9 Ellenberger

Round two: Hieron opens with a nice left hook and he's looking more aggressive, forcing Ellenberger to stay on the outside. Hieron opens up with kicks both to the head and body and he attempts a takedown but can't secure it. Both men miss with leg kicks and Hieron overcommits to a left hook as Ellenberger ducks under and puts him on his back. Hieron avoids damage, creates some space and scrambles back to his feet. Hieron has a cut over his eye and he's not nearly as aggressive anymore. Ellenberger has control of the cage center but neither fighter engages in the final two minutes. 10-9 Ellenberger

Round three: Hieron opens with a kick and Ellenberger rushes forward to no avail. Ellenberger steps forward aggressively with a hook and he ragdolls Hieron to the canvas but Hieron pops back to his feet. Both men pick up the pace briefly, exchanging strikes on the inside. Hieron throws a front kick but it's blocked. Leg kick from Hieron and a head kick and ellenberger is stalking him. The crowd isn't feeling this fight anymore and Ellenberger closes the distance, landing a short punch on the inside before separating. The crowd showers them with boos and Ellenberger drops Hieron with one second left in the bout. 10-9 Ellenberger

Final results: Jake Ellenberger defeats Jay Hieron via unanimous decision (29-28 x3)

John Dodson vs. Jussier da Silva (125-pound limit):

Round one:Both men do a lot of circling in the opening minute but neither is really throwing anything to get thing started. Big left hand misses for Dodson and they continue to posture with each other. It seems like both men are very concerned about making a mistake. Dodson is flashing his left and Formiga nearly catches him with a counter right. Da Silva shoots in but Dodson avoids the first takedown attempt of the night. Neither fighter takes initiative and the crowd lets both men have it as the round concludes. 10-10. That was garbage.

Round two: Dodson loads up with a left hand and Formiga tries to grab him but can't put his hands on him. Formiga fakes a level change but gives up on it halfway through. Right hand misses for Formiga. The crowd is not feeling this fight at all as neither man is doing anything significant but out of nowhere Dodson drops Formiga with his left hand. Formiga turtles and avoids danger on the ground, trying to scramble for a leg or something and Dodson lets him back to his feet. They go right back to posturing and the crowd goes right back to booing. Dodson again steps forward and he plasters Formiga a swift combination scoring with a left to the body followed by a left hook to the face. Formiga goes down and Dodson swarms him with punches as the referee intervenes!

Final results: Jon Dodson defeats Jussier da Silva via TKO at 4:25 of round two

Josh Neer vs. Justin Edwards (170-pound limit):

Round one: Edwards opens aggressively with some strikes and works for a takedown but Neer avoids it. Now Neer presses forward and is hunting for a takedown and Edwards grabs a guillotine and jumps guard. It's tight! Neer gets dragged to the canvas and he's out cold! Wow, that was fast!

Final results: Justin Edwards def. Josh Neer via technical submission (guillotine) at 0:45 of round one

Danny Castillo vs. Michael Johnson (155-pound limit):

Round one: Good right hand by Johnson. Inside leg kick by Castillo. Castillo shoots but eats a kick and thinks better. Castillo pawing with the jab. Castillo the more active of the two thus far. Johnson still looking to counter. Castillo with a big right hand on the button! Castillo is on top of him punishing him with hammerfists! Johnson is taking a ton of punishment. Castillo almost has him fully mounted. Castillo has the full mount and looks to be searching for an arm triangle. He's got it. It's deep! This will be over soon unless Johnson is able to defend and relieve some of the pressure. Johnson finally gets his head out, and tosses Castillo out of the mount, back into half guard. Small moral victory for Johnson. Castillo on top still, looking to get his leg free and back into full mount. Johnson looks up and complains to the referee, but he's doing very little to get back up. Just over a minute left. Good elbows from Castillo. Castillo appears to be trying to methodically move his knee up to Johnson's left arm so he can trap him in a crucifix. Thirty seconds left. Castillo postures up. Johnson tries to power out, but no sooner than he does so, Castillo is back on top of him. Final seconds of round one tick away. 10-8 Castillo.

Round two: Johnson starts off with an outside leg kick, then several other kicks. Castillo ducks under a right hand for a takedown but he's unable to get it. Leg kick by Johnson, who is trying to be more aggressive in this second round. Good left hand by Johnson. Another leg kick by Johnson. Johnson rocks him! Johnson landed a straight left hand that wobbled Castillo, and he follows up with a swarm of strikes, leading to this fight being called! Knockout win for Michael Johnson!

Final results: Michael Johnson via KO at 1:06 of round two

Mike Pierce vs. Aaron Simpson (170-pound limit):

Round one: Fighters tie up in the center and grapple for position. Simpson looks to score with some knees. Simpson pushes off and lands a kick to the body. Good flurry of punches from Simpson. Front kick by Simpson. Good uppercut by Simpson as Pierce rushes in. Pierce walks through it for a headlock throw, but Simpson rolls and is right back up. Pierce has Simpson on the fence now, where they jockey for position. Foot stomps by Pierce. Dirty boxing by both fighters. Good knee by Simpson. And another. High kick by Simpson. Two minutes left. Good series of jabs by Simpson. Simpson clips him with a right hand. Pierce is back up and he eats a couple of knees. Pierce grabs a leg and is trying to end this barrage by taking things to the canvas. Simpson defends well and continues to punish his opponent with short elbows and knees. One minute to go in the opening round. Big knee to the head by Simpson. Big uppercut by Simpson. Simpson changes levels and gets the power takedown. Pierce rolls and gives up his back. Pierce is turtled up now and Simpson sinks in the hooks. He's working for the choke. Pierce is in survival mode and he's saved by the horn. 10-9 Simpson.

Round two: Big kick to the body by Simpson, right out of the gate. Big combo by Simpson, with a hard uppercut. Simpson comes in aggressively and he is tagged by a right hook to the body. Simpson is crippled and crumbles to the floor. It's over! Simpson got caught and is unable to continue. KO victory for Mike Pierce.

Final results: Mike Pierce via KO at 0:29 of round two

Carlo Prater vs. Marcus LeVesseur (155-pound limit):

Round one: LeVesseur with a big left hand, rater ducks under and shoots for the takedown. Unable to get the takedown, but he drags LeVesseur to the cage, and is pressed onto him, looking to impose his will. Knees by Prater. Prater tries for the sweep. Inside knee by Prater, close to a low blow. More knees and shoulder strikes from Prater. LeVesseur is trapped on the cage. LeVesseur finds an opportunity and is able to trip Prater and land on top. Prater controls the posture, looking to avoid taking damage, and Josh Rosenthal stands them up immediately. Quick stand up. Somewhat questionable. Head kick by Prater is blocked. Good right hand by Prater. LeVesseur with the combo, Prater avoids it and gets underhooks. Prater jumps to guard, but LeVesseur smartly walks him over to the cage. Prater tries to sing in a guillotine, but this is not a good angle and he's unlikely to finish him from here. LeVesseur must be careful. Crowd boos, but there's a lot of tactical positioning going on in this spot. Prater finally releases the choke and there both back on their feet. LeVesseur has Prater on the fence. Prater reverses and lands a good knee. LeVesseur reverses him right back and is leaning on him on the fence. Good knees by Prater. LeVesseur works for the takedown up to the horn, but unable to secure it. 10-9 Prater.

Round two: LeVesseur starts off with some good strikes and movement. Prater, not liking the exchange, ties things up and brings LeVesseur to the fence. Dirty boxing now by both fighters. Prater working the knees to the body. LeVesseur reverses and immediately scores with a big knee of his own to the body of Prater. It's been a very slow and methodical fight so far, and this second round has been no different. LeVesseur lands a decent right hand out of the break. Back to center. Big left hand by LeVesseur. Prater shoots. LeVesseur defends. Prater grabs hold of the thai clinch, looking to inflict damage with his knees. LeVesseur reverses. Battle for position on the fence, as the Minneapolis crowd is not enjoying this fight and letting the fighters hear about it. LeVesseur gets the takedown, but Prater grabs hold of the neck from his back. LeVesseur gives the thumb's up to referee Josh Rosenthal. LeVesseur slowly trying to inch his head out. Just over a minute left. LeVesseur finally able to work free, on the way up, he lands several quick punches to the retreating Carlo Prater. Good inside leg kick by Prater. LeVesseur ducks under a right hand and scores with the takedown. LeVesseur on top. Prater goes to his mainstay and grabs hold of LeVesseur's neck, once again. Close round. Hard to score. 10-10.

Round three: Prater with a solid inside leg kick. High kick by Prater. LeVesseur with the kick to the body, partially blocked. LeVesseur shoots but is stuffed. Prater holds on to him and drags him to the cage, landing a few knees on the way. LeVesseur reverses. More grappling and positioning on the fence. Will be interesting to see what Dana White has to say about this fight in the post fight presser. Two minutes have gone by, and the majority of the time has been spent with both fighters leaning on each other, trying to get the upper hand. Rosenthal warns and finally breaks them up. Back to center. Big jump high kick by Prater, rocks LeVesseur for a moment. Prater initiates the clinch and scores with a couple of knees. LeVesseur reverses and moves things -- stop me if you've heard this one before -- to this fence. Prater jumps and pulls guard, looking for a guillotine off his back. LeVesseur tries to get his hand in and relieve the pressure. One minute left. LeVesseur is out and on top. Punches to the ribcage from LeVesseur. LeVesseur has positional control, but not doing anything at all in the way of finishing the fight. LeVesseur continues with short meaningless punches in the ribs, very little behind them at all.Prater goes for the guillotine again, but can't get a good angle as time expires. 10-9 LeVesseur.

Final results: Marcus LeVesseur via split decision

Shane Roller vs. Jacob Volkmann (155-pound limit):

Round one: Volkmann with the head kick, blocked by Roller. Volkmann with the kick to the body. Volkmann is keeping his hands a little low, and there it is, the shot. Clearly, Volkmann just wants to get this fight to the ground ASAP. Good uppercut by Volkmann. Good right hand by Roller. Volkmann shoots for a double. He can't get it at first, but he takes Roller's back and is draped all over him. Volkmann has him down and is on his back against the cage. Volkmann softening him up with strikes. He's got the bodylock in. Lots of time and Volkmann is working hard to sink that choke in. Roller is in a very bad spot. Volkmann continues to bludgeon Roller with short strikes, looking to get that arm in. It's close. It's not under the chin but he may be able to finish via neck crank -- and he gets it! Roller has tapped and it's all over!

Final results: Jacob Volkmann via submission (rear naked choke) at 2:38 of round one

Bart Palaszewski vs. Diego Nunes (145-pound limit):

Round one: Nunes rushes out to the center. Big right left combo by Nunes. Nunes hunts him down. Palaszewski is already bleeding. Nunes shoots and Palaszewski tries to sink in a guillotine. Nunes drops him and is on top. Palaszewski still holding on, but Nunes is out. Palaszewski goes for a triangle now. Nunes defends. Palaszewski controlling the head with both hands. Nunes tries to posture up and get free. Palaszewski continues to work on tightening up that triangle. Nunes looks to be loosening the grip of Palaszewski's legs. And he's out. Nunes looks to land some ground and pound inside the full guard of Palaszewski. Nunes with asome big elbows. Two and a half minutes left. Palaszewski grabs the head and pulls it down, looking to get the triangle back in place, but Nunes is having none of it. More ground and pound from Nunes. Nunes stands, hovering over Palaszewski, looking to land a big strike. Nunes dives into the guard, and as he does, Palaszewski finds a hole to escape and get back up. Big right hand by Nunes and Palaszewski is dropped! Nunes pounces on him. Palaszewski looks hurt. Side control for Nunes, looking to get full mount. Now in north-south. Nunes close to taking Palaszewski's back as he rolls. Palaszewski rolls again, transitioning into full guard. Big left hand by Nunes from the top. It's been all Nunes in the early going here. Big shots from Nunes as the round ends. 10-8 Nunes.

Round two: Big left hook by Nunes right away. Outside leg kick by Nunes, then a spinning back kick to the body. Leg kick by Nunes again. Nunes keeping his hands low, seemingly trying to bait Palaszewski into an exchahnge of flurries. Big overhand right by Nunes. Palaszewski answers with a decent quick combo. Nunes with the spinning backfist, landing square on the jawline. Palaszewski is able to stay up, but Nunes ties him up and takes him down immediately. Nunes working inside Palaszewski's guard. Big right hands by Nunes. Lots of time left. Big elbow by Nunes. Big right hand by Nunes. Palaszewski rolls and gives up his back. Nunes looking to sink hooks in, but Palaszewski uses the fence to keep him from mounting. Palaszewski slowly gets back to his feet, using the cage. Back to center and a head kick by Nunes, partially blocked. Good combo by Palaszewski. Big left hook by Nunes as Palaszewski rushes in. Another combo by Nunes, ending with one more big left hook. This fight has been dominated by Nunes in every aspect, thus far. Just over a minute to go. Spinning back fist by Nunes, partially lands. Good outside leg kick by Palaszewski. Front kick to the body by Palaszewski. Nunes with a big left hook as Palaszewski comes forward. Nunes attacks the lead leg. Palaszewski charges in and gets his one his kicks caught as time expires. 10-9 Nunes.

Round three: Outside leg kick by Nunes. Fighters exchange leg kicks in the middle of the cage. Palaszewski with a good combo, coming forward. Good combo by Palaszewski again, rocking him a little with two left hooks. Nunes looks wobbled. Palaszewski appears to have hurt him with one of those hooks. Nunes looks like he's on rubber legs. Palaszewski charges forward throwing hands. Nunes with a big overhand right that misses wildly. High kick by Nunes. Palaszewski with a high kick in response. Three minutes to go. Leg kick by Palaszewski. High kick by Nunes is blocked. Good short left hand by Palaszewski. Hard outside leg kick by Palaszewski. Good left hand by Nunes. Two minutes to go, and Palaszewski has looked good this round, but he clearly needs a finish here to get the victory. Good left hook by Nunes, who appears to have dusted off the cobwebs. Good left hook by Nunes again, who is doing a good job of setting up that hook by faking the spinning backfist, keeping Palaszewski on his heels. One minute left. Good right hand by Nunes. Spinning back kick by Nunes just misses the head of his oponent. Good combo by both fighters as they exchange in the center of the Octagon. Leg kicks by both Palaszewski and Nunes. Big right hand by Nunes and Palaszewski is down. Nunes is on top and he runs out of time. 10-9 Nunes.

Final results: Diego Nunes via unanimous decision

Darren Uyenoyama vs. Phil Harris (125-pound limit):

Round one: Harris with a big left hand that misses wildly. Uyenoyama walking him down, finding the distance. Good left hand by Uyenoyama. Uyenoyama with the combo then the shot. Harris defends, but is pressed onto the cage. Battle for position now on the fence. Uyenoyama has one underhook. Harris reverses. Uyenoyama goes for a jumping knee inside the clinch. Very unorthodox but it misses. Harris gets the takedown. Uyenoyama is back up quickly. Harris is on his back, standing position. Two minutes into the first round. Harris gets the takedown again, this time further from the cage. Harris inside Uyenoyama's full guard. Uyenoyama has control of Harri's right arm, but he gets it free. Harris postures but Uyenoyama throws up a triangle. This looks deep. Harris needs to be very careful. Harris finally slips out and stands to his feet, letting Uyenoyama back up. Uyenoyama with a crazy somersault kick to the body, then throws his hands up, somewhat clowning Harris. One minute left. Uyenoyama ties up and feints knee, then backs out. Harris with a good straight left. Left hook from Uyenoyama. Very even round, but ever so slight advantage to Harris for the takedowns. Kick to the body by Uyenoyama, then a decent elbow from in close. Uyenoyama throws up a "Karate Kid" crane stance, then throws a high kick that is blocked. 10-9 Harris.

Round two: Body kick attempt by Uyenoyama misses. Harris responds with a body kick that lands. Good left hand by Harris. Fighters exchange in the middle. Harris comes forward with a combo. Uyenoyama comes in with an inside leg kick but eats a right hook. Uyenoyama with another leg kick. Good stuff left hand by Harris lands on hte nose. Uyenoyama visibly wincing. Good right hand to the body by Harris. Uyenoyama charges in and ties up Harris, tangling him up on the fence. Harris reverses him, just like before, then grabs a leg to try and take things south, once more. Harris with the double underhooks now. Harris takes him down, but Uyenoyama grabs Harris's arm, goes for a kimura. He lets go of the submission attempt to take his back. Uyenoyama rolls and almost gets full mount, but he's in side control now. Harris tries to escape and Uyenoyama takes his back. Harris turns and now he's fully mounted by Uyenoyama with 1:45 to go. Uyenoyama starting to open up now. Harris rolls back to his back. Uyenoyama has the choke sunk in. Harris taps and it's all over!

Final results: Darren Uyenoyama via submission (rear naked choke) at 3:38 of round one
