UFC 152: "Jones vs. Belfort" from the Air Canada Centre in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, has officially wrapped, which means it's time for those select fighters who went above and beyond in their respective fights to get a little extra grease for their efforts.
To the tune of $65,000 each.
The promotion dished out its standard post-fight monetary bonuses to four out of the 22 fighters on the card, and it's probably no surprise who's headed home with a second sack of simoleons.
Vinny Magalhaes may have been uber-impressive with his second round tap of Igor Pokrajac but there was no way in hell anyone other than Jon Jones was going to walk away with "Submission of the Night" once he cranked Vitor Belfort's arm in a fight-ending Americana in the main event.
This came after "The Phenom" almost finished "Bones" with an armbar of his own three rounds earlier.
Cub Swanson came into the evening with everyone telling him his opponent, Charles Oliveira, had a Brazilian jiu-jitsu game to be feared and his only chance was to keep the fight standing and work from there.
So that's what he did, and he won "Knockout of the Night." A strong overhand right destroyed "Do Bronx" and once his legs caught up with his brain, he fell out and went about trying to regain his senses.
Finally, T.J. Grant and Evan Dunham were awarded "Fight of the Night" honors for their thrilling back-and-forth war of attrition in a bout that was originally slated for the main card but was bumped in favor of what turned out to be Matt Hamill vs. Roger Hollett, unquestionably the worst fight of the night and one of the worst fights of the year.
The $65K makes that much easier to take, I'm sure.
Here are the special fight bonuses for UFC 152:
Submission of the Night -- Jon Jones
Knockout of the Night -- Cub Swanson
Fight of the Night -- Evan Dunham vs. T.J. Grant
Again, each fighter received $65,000 extra for their performances in addition to their respective base salaries, which we will pass along as soon as possible.
