UFC 152's Michael Bisping suffers cut in training, requires stitches to fix prior to Brian Stann fight

What on Earth is going on with recent injuries and cuts in mixed martial arts (MMA) today?

The injury bug won't claim Michael Bisping as one of its victims as "The Count" revealed today that he suffered a cut over his left eye during training. According to Bisping, the cut, which required six stitches to close, will not keep him out of his fight with Brian Stann, which is set to serve as the co-main event at UFC 152 on Sept. 22, 2012, at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

The British brawler posted the picture of the gash via his official Twitter account with this message:

Slash!! Head but from yesterday's training, 6 stitches, no big deal, still 8 weeks out.

Though the cut is an unfortunate injury to Bisping, the good news is that it wasn't so severe that the fight had to be pulled.

It's a good thing, too, as Rory MacDonald -- who was also scheduled for the UFC 152 card -- had to pull out of his fight with B.J. Penn because of a cut he suffered over his right eye thanks to a spinning back fist from one of his training partners that required 38 stitches to close up.

With the bevy of injuries to UFC stars over the last couple of months, Zuffa officials have been forced to reshuffle plenty of events to make up for the huge losses. Most notably, UFC 149 took a major hit in star power with all of the injuries to stars such as Thiago Alves, Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira, Jose Aldo, Thiago Silva and Yoshihiro Akiyama.

And it showed.

The event was met with plenty of criticism with the constant boo's from the Calgary crowd and even UFC President Dana White wasn't too thrilled with the effort put forth by his replacement fighters.

UFC 152 is set to feature the promotion's first-ever flyweight title fight between Joseph Benavidez and Demetrious Johnson. In the co-main event, Bisping and Stann will collide in a 185-pound title that will have major number one contender ramifications.

Breathe easy fight fans, this card won't have two major fights pulled; however, with eight weeks remaining until fight night, plenty of things can still go wrong.

Keep your fingers crossed that Murphy's Law doesn't go into effect once again.
