Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) returned to network television this past Saturday night (Aug. 4, 2012) with UFC on Fox 4: "Shogun vs. Vera" featuring Mauricio Rua turning in a solid if unspectacular performance in a fourth round stoppage victory over Brandon Vera.
But he didn't earn a title shot.
Instead, that honor went to Lyoto Machida, who impressed his bosses the most with a thunderous one-punch knockout of Ryan Bader in the second round of their co-main event bout.
Other action on the card saw Joe Lauzon submit Jamie Varner in a "Fight of the Year" candidate while Mike Swick returned to action with a monster knockout of DaMarques Johnson.
In cased you missed any or all of it -- or just want to keep the discussion alive -- below are links to all the major storylines borne from Saturday night's event in Los Angeles.
