The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is coming to China and come hell or high water, it seems, Cung Le will be headlining the card.

Despite a nasty toe injury that has required some radical round-the-clock therapy, the former Strikeforce champion has been booked to throw leather against Rich Franklin for the planned UFC on FUEL TV 6 event on Nov. 10, 2012, at the CotaiArena at the Venetian Macao-Resort-Hotel in the People's Republic of China.

The logic behind the matchmaking here is clear. Although born in Vietnam, Le competed many times internationally during his kickboxing career. He's not so big a name that he would be wasted on a free FUEL card -- same for Franklin -- but not so small so as not to draw a big crowd.

It's the perfect mix.

Le is coming off an uninspired showing against Patrick Cote at UFC 148 on July 7 in Las Vegas, no doubt aided greatly by the injury he suffered during the bout. He's motivated enough to go through this (video in link NSFW) to get back in the cage for this fight, so expect much better this time out.

Franklin was last seen in the main event of UFC 147 this past June 23 in Brazil, a five-round unanimous decision win over Wanderlei Silva. That rematch was booked due to Vitor Belfort suffering a hand injury. Had that not happened, Franklin and Le would have already tussled.

Now, they'll get the chance to do it as the main event in the promotion's debut in a new market.

Joy.

UFC on FUEL TV 6 will be headlined by Le vs. Franklin while also featuring a welterweight bout pitting Dong Hyun Kim vs. Paulo Thiago and a bantamweight battle between Kyung Ho Kang and Alex Caceres.
