He almost pulled it off.

The inaugural Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Lightweight Champion was looking for a fresh start when he went to war against undefeated mixed martial arts (MMA) master Eric Kelly on the main card of ONE FC 5: "Pride of a Nation" earlier today (Aug. 31, 2012) at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Manila, Philippines.

Instead, he got more of the same.

"Lil' Evil" actually held his own in the opening frame, socking and rocking "The Natural" in front of a stunned Filipino audience. His conditioning, however, appeared to betray him in the second stanza, allowing Kelly to roar back and put him on the canvas before the referee had seen enough.

Have you seen enough of Pulver?

In addition to having over 40 professional fights, the former World Extreme Cagefighting (WEC) star is turning 38 years old this year and could be hard pressed to find a promotion willing to give him a second look, despite his intention of dropping back down to bantamweight.

Anyone think he can still get the job done?
