Get ready fight fans in the "Emerald City" because the UFC on Fox 5: "Henderson vs. Diaz" fight card is filling up fast.
Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) today announced two new bouts for the upcoming fight card at the KeyArena in Seattle, Wash., on Dec. 8, 2012: Michael Chiesa vs. Rafaello Oliveira and Scott Jorgensen vs. John Albert.
Both bouts are expected to take place on the "Prelims" portion of the loaded fight card planned to air on national television about three months from now.
Chiesa will make enter the Octagon for the first time since defeating Al Iaquinta via technical knockout to win The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 15 Lightweight season back in June 2012. "Maverick" defied the odds, as well as the tragic loss of his father, to win the coveted "six-figure" contract, while Oliveira was busy battling Yoislandy Izquierdo for three rounds en route to a unanimous decision win at UFC 148 just a few weeks later.
Jorgensen, once the number one 135-pound title contender, is in the midst of his first-ever back-to-back losing streak, getting knocked stiff his last time out courtesy of Eddie Wineland at UFC on FX 3. His opponent, Albert, is in a similar situation, looking to steer out a two-fight skid after his most recent loss to Erik Perez via submission (armbar) at TUF 15 Finale.
Pressure.
UFC on FOX 5 will feature world lightweight championship match between reigning 155-pound champion Ben Henderson vs. Nate Diaz. In addition, Alexander Gustafsson will look make Mauricio Rua his Light Heavyweight steeping stone, while Rory MacDonald will be out to do the same with B.J. Penn, albeit 35 pounds lighter in the Welterweight division.
And let's not forget about the "big" heavyweight showdown between Lavar Johnson vs. Brendan Schaub that will kick-off the primetime telecast.
