Bellator Fighting Championships might want to rethink its policy of letting its fighters -- including champions -- take fights outside the organization as long as the bout is held outside the United States.
That's because Bantamweight Champion Eduardo Dantas, who won the strap with an impressive arm-triangle submission win over Zach Makovsky, was knocked out clean by Tyson Nam last night (Sat., Aug. 25, 2012) in the very first round at Shooto Brazil 33: Fight for BOPE 2.
Despite the loss, Dantas is still Bellator's champion and will defend the title against Marcus Galvao at a date and venue to be determined. There's just no questioning some shine has been wiped off that title he's carrying around.
Nam has now won four fights in a row and perhaps just made his best case for a Bellator contract.
