Former Strikeforce Lightweight Champion Josh Thomson will find his way back to the Hexagon next month in Sacramento, California, when he takes on division prospect Caros Fodor at the "Melendez vs. Healy" Showtime event from the Power Balance Pavilion on Sept. 29, 2012.
Sherdog.com reported the booking over the weekend.
Thomson (19-5) is coming off a razor-thin split decision loss to longtime nemesis Gilbert Melendez back in May. Prior to completing his trilogy against "El Nino" in San Jose, "The Punk" swept the judges' scorecards opposite K.J. Noons at the "Tate vs. Rousey" event last March.
What will "The Future" bring?
Fodor (7-2) won five straight fights under the Strikeforce banner following his 2010 debut. He was poised to challenge for the 155-pound strap; however, Pat Healy beat him to the punch with a third-round submission finish in their fight to determine the next division contender earlier this year.
So close, yet so far.
After the jump. Thomson breaks down his upcoming fight at Strikeforce: "Melendez vs. Healy" and a whole lot more.
