It's (almost) time!
Ronda Rousey will step back inside the Strikeforce cage to defend her bantamweight championship for the very first time tonight (Sat., Aug. 18, 2012) at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California, for a five-round tussle with Sarah Kaufman.
Not that it will need all five rounds. In fact, no "Rowdy" bout has gone further than the first, either professional or amateur. She's a perfect 5-0 since making her debut in March 2011 and with the exception of her title win over Miesha Tate earlier this year, no one else has even made it out of the first minute.
All fell via armbar.
Kaufman, however, is no slouch, a tough-as-nails grinder with just one loss to her record. Of course, it should be noted that loss came by way of armbar to Marloes Coenen. Naturally, that's led everyone to add 1 and 1 to get 2 but anything can happen on any given night in a mixed martial arts (MMA) fight.
It's why they climb inside the cage, Maniacs. Any last minute predictions before they dance under the bright lights?
