Jon Jones fires back at 'disrespectful' Chael Sonnen, tells the 'coward' and 'cheater' to step to his face

Newly christened light heavyweight Chael Sonnen was talking all kinds of trash yesterday about reigning 205-pound kingpin Jon Jones, likely to rattle the champ's cage and keep him distracted.

And "Bones" fell for it hook, line and sinker.

Sonnen is a longtime friend and training partner of Dan Henderson, who challenges Jones for the title at the UFC 151 pay-per-view (PPV) event on Sept. 1, 2012, from the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.

And all's fair in love and war.

After the jump, Jones fires back at the former middleweight number one contender through his official Twitter account, and challenges Sonnen to "disrespect him to his face like a man."

"The things you say about me hold absolutely no weight, you disrespected Anderson and his country but fought like a child. If you're going to disrespect me out of nowhere, at least disrespect me to my face like a man. And you call me a punk, I'm more man than you'll ever be. #Coward #Cheater. You're not worth my time. Earn a title shot instead of trying to talk your way into one and I'll be glad to hurt you."

Following his inability to wrestle the 185-pound strap from Anderson Silva, Sonnen will pack on a few pounds to challenge Forrest Griffin at the UFC 155 year-end extravaganza on Dec. 29, 2012 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

And after that?

Sonnen promised to pick the "Bones" off the champ's carcass, assuming "Hendo" can land the "H-Bomb" when they hook 'em up in just a few weeks from the strip in "Sin City."
