BJ Penn vs Rory MacDonald rescheduled for UFC on FOX 5 on Dec. 8

This shouldn't come as a surprise, considering Nate Quarry's recent spoiler.

B.J. Penn vs. Rory MacDonald is just the latest marquee match-up to make it to the upcoming UFC on FOX 5 fight card, scheduled for Dec. 8 at a location to be named. MMA Weekly confirmed the booking earlier today.

"The Prodigy," who came out of retirement to stick it to TriStar gym one last time, was expected to meet "Ares" at UFC 152; however, the Canadian phenom suffered a cut in training and needed a few weeks to get himself all patched up.

Now he's got a couple of months.

Penn (16-8) is just 1-3-1 over his last five fights and was ready to call it a career after getting knocked around by Nick Diaz at the UFC 137: "Penn vs. Diaz" event last October. Earlier in the year, he battled Jon Fitch to a majority draw in Australia.

His best days may be behind him, which is why the lines opened with "Ares" as the -300 favorite.

After a third round technical knockout loss to Carlos Condit back in June 2010, MacDonald (13-1) went on a three-fight tear, sending Nate Diaz back to the 155-pound division in the process. At just 23 years of age, the Canadian prospect has 12 finishes in 13 wins.

Get ready for (a drug free) war.

UFC on FOX 5 will be headlined by a lightweight title fight pitting reigning division champion Ben Henderson against division number one contender Nate Diaz. In addition, Alexander Gustafsson will try to move to the head of the light heavyweight class when he tangles with former champion Mauricio Rua.
