Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Light Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones could very well be the most hated fighter in mixed martial arts (MMA) since Kalib Starnes faded off into obscurity. Maybe it's his attitude, maybe it's because he's just that damn good, but whatever it is, there are a lot of fans who just plain don't like the dude.
Most of those same fans are pinning their collective hopes on Dan Henderson to become the first man to defeat him at UFC 151 on Sept. 1, 2012, in Las Vegas, Nevada. For his part, "Hendo" is happy to oblige:
"For some reason, a lot of fans don't like him and they're just wanting him to lose. I'll gladly step in and fill that role for them. Overall, what you want to do with almost anybody (is close the distance) unless you want to stay outside, but for me that's pretty much what I like to do and I just have to make sure that I'm able to do it against Jon Jones and his reach. I don't know (if he can take a punch). Hopefully he'll take a few."
Anyone think "Dangerous Dan" is the man to finally pose a significant challenge to Jonny "Bones" and his place at the top of the light heavyweight ladder? Or will is he just another warm body to sacrifice at the alter of the next legend in the making?
Let's hear it, Maniacs.
