Although all the focus of the mixed martial arts (MMA) world is dead set on tonight's (Sat., July 7, 2012) UFC 148: "Silva vs. Sonnen 2" event going down at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, at 10 p.m. ET on pay-per-view (PPV), it's nice to look back to know just how we got here.
Chael Sonnen will, of course, challenge Anderson Silva for the middleweight championship in the headlining attraction. He earned that right, in part, by his performance in their first meeting back at UFC 117 in Aug. 2010. You can watch that fight in full by clicking here.
But he also had to conquer a few more challenges in the meantime and the bout that he won just before signing the contract to take on "The Spider" tonight was an extremely close unanimous decision over Michael Bisping at UFC on Fox 2 earlier this year.
It was such a close fight, in fact, that many feel it very well could have gone the other way and had the judges awarded "The Count" the victory, it would have been just as fair. Of course, it would have robbed us of the mega main event set to take place in just a few short hours in "Sin City," but whatever.
While you're waiting, enjoy this full fight of Sonnen vs. Bisping from UFC on Fox 2.
