A featherweight fracas this close to home? Yes, please!
That's likely the same reaction Bart Palaszewski had when he was awarded this bout against Diego Nunes at UFC on FX 5 on Sept. 7, 2012, in his home state of Indiana, as he's spent considerable time campaigning for as much.
MMAWeekly.com brought word of the pending contest a short while ago.
Palaszewski, who entered the Octagon with a bang by knocking out Tyson Griffin in his UFC debut back in Oct. 2011, is looking to rebound from a loss to Hatsu Hioki at UFC 144 in Japan earlier this year. THe defeat knocked him down the 145-pound ladder but he can climb right back up it with a victory over the always game "Gun."
Nunes has struggled over the past year, losing two of three bouts to the likes of Kenny Florian and Dennis Siver, respectively. It's too bad, too, considering he was thought to be on the cusp of a title shot. He can certainly go a long way in rebuilding his reputation with a big win here.
UFC on FX 5 will take place on Sept. 7 at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Indiana. Palaszewski vs. Nunes is the only bout announced for the card at this time but expect that to change quickly.
And, as always, stay tuned to MMAmania.com for more on this still-developing fight card.
