Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) today (July 5, 2012) added yet another pair of welterweights to its upcoming UFC on FUEL TV 5 fight card scheduled for the Capital FM Arena in Nottingham, England on Sept. 29, 2012, featuring two of England's top 170-pound prospects.
John Hathaway vs. John Maguire.
Hathaway (16-1) made a name for himself by dominating Diego Sanchez when "The Dream" first returned to welterweight in early 2010. The celebration was short lived; however, as Mike Pyle handed him his first career defeat just a few months later.
Since then, "The Hitman" has paired together consecutive decision wins over Kris McCray at UFC Fight Night 24 and Pascal Krauss at UFC on FOX 3, respectively.
Maguire (18-3) proved he was "The One" by taking home the win in his first two UFC bouts, a unanimous decision over Justin Edwards at UFC 138 followed by a submission (armbar) over Damarques Johnson at UFC on FUEL TV 2. The Tsunami Gym product has finished 10 of his opponents by way of tap, nap or snap.
Will Hathaway be number 11?
UFC on FUEL TV 5 will be headlined by a heavyweight battle pitting Stefan Struve vs. Stipe Miocic. In addition, bantamweight brawler Brad Pickett will take on Yves Jabouin while The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 15: "Live" contestant Andy Ogle goes to war against fellow featherweight and TUF veteran Akira Corassani.
