Even though the UFC 149 "Prelims" didn't "suck" nearly as bad as the pay-per-view (PPV) main card, the ratings for the under card bouts featured on the FX Network certainly suffered as a result of the major loss of starpower.
UFC 149 attracted an average of 1 million mixed martial arts (MMA) fans to FX last Saturday night (July 21, 2012), which is about 800,000 less viewers than its record-breaking 1.8 million high water mark for UFC 148 earlier this month, according to Sherdog.com.
That's low enough to rank third all-time from the bottom, trailing only the UFC 147 (969,000) and UFC 142 (880,000) "Prelims" specials.
For what it's worth, Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) President Dana White praised the UFC 149 "Prelims," saying that all the bouts "delivered" unlike its PPV counterpart. A seven-second "Knockout of the Night" from Ryan Jimmo over Anthony Perosh, as well as a "Fight of the Night" performance between Bryan Caraway vs. Mitch Gagnon were just a few of the many highlights inside the Scotiabank Saddledome in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.
