UFC 149: "Faber vs. Barao" from the Scotiabank Saddledome in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, has officially wrapped, which means it's time for those select fighters who went above and beyond in their respective fights to get a little extra grease for their efforts.
To the tune of $65,000 each.
The promotion dished out its standard post-fight monetary bonuses to four out of the 22 fighters on the card, and it's probably no surprise who's headed home with a second sack of simoleons.
Considering there were only two submissions on the card, it was easy pickings to give company favorite Matt Riddle "Submission of the Night" honors for his third round tapout of Chris Clements. It helps, of course, that this was the only main card bout that didn't go the distance and actually featured an exciting moment or two.
"Knockout of the Night" was as obvious as could be, seeing as Ryan Jimmo tied the record for the fastest knockout in UFC history with a seven second pasting of Anthony Perosh.
Hi, Mark Pavelich.
Finally, Bryan Caraway earned himself a hefty $65K by putting on a solid performance against Mitch Gagnon on the FX broadcasted portion of the preliminary card. The two went back-and-forth until Caraway earned a submission victory by way of rear-naked choke in the final frame.
Here are the special fight bonuses for UFC 149:
Submission of the Night -- Matt Riddle
Knockout of the Night -- Ryan Jimmo
Fight of the Night -- Bryan Caraway vs. Mitch Gagnon
Again, each fighter received $65,000 extra for their performances in addition to their respective base salaries, which we will pass along as soon as possible.
